You may be aware that we used to have orthodontic practices in Northwest Arkansas under another name before we opened Uncommon Orthodontics in Joplin in September of 2014. During that time, we considered expanding into Joplin but for one reason or another, did not.
Things changed for us when we sold our practices in Arkansas so Dr. Pickard could “retire.” Joplin was recovering from the horrific tornado and we watched, prayed, donated and helped…from a distance.
We can clearly remember standing out in the street in Rogers, Arkansas, watching the tornado move north of us and praying that it would not touch down…and if it did, that it would choose vacant land. As the news came in that evening, our hearts were broken for Joplin. As you fought back, the country was reminded who we are as Americans and what we are made of. When we planned, built, opened our office and became a part of the community, we continued to be amazed at the resilience of this community.
We cannot know, first hand, the terror, loss, devastation and emptiness that the Joplin professional, business and residential community suffered after that horrible tragedy, but we can tell you what we observed as “outsiders.” We saw courage, resilience, determination, character and backbone…plus cooperation, unselfishness and unity.
In this election year with all the anger and division, it can seem like our great nation is losing its way. It would do America (and every single presidential candidate) much good to look at the example set by the Joplin community in the years after May 22, 2011. We honor you, remember your losses and celebrate your uncommon victory every day, but especially during this month. You are a shining example to us all!
Expenses seem to be rising everywhere (including orthodontic supplies) and we all know it is tough to stretch those dollars. We also know that some businesses raise their fees all the time and their customers/clients/patients don’t usually know the difference. Part of our uncommon financial policy demands that we keep you informed, so we want you to know our plans.
We will hold our fees at the 2015 levels throughout the summer. There will be a modest increase in September though, so now is the time to get started on that beautiful smile about which you’ve been dreaming. Whether you are a new patient or one who has delayed starting, we encourage you to plan your new smile into your budget now.
Finally, we remain committed to our ZERO down payment, ZERO interest, ZERO financing fees and ZERO credit check standards. Affordable braces continue to be a cornerstone of our uncommon financial protocols and even after a modest increase; they will continue to make your new smile possible! Contact us today for more information or to make an appointment before the summer schedule fills up!
The 2015 fees will be honored through Wednesday, August 31 at 5 PM.
Uncommon Communication…for Everyone!
If you find that you have questions for us, we try to make communication uncommonly easy! If you need to make an appointment, you may call the office (417-625-1114) at any time – even after hours - because we have a “live” person to answer the phone after hours and on the weekends. You may also message us on Facebook or click the “Request Appointment” button on the Uncommon Ortho website to make an appointment and we will call you right away to make one.
Once you have your new patient appointment, you may always call us at any time or message us on Facebook. You may also visit the Patient Portal to access your account information, pay your bill or check your appointment. You will have received a letter telling you how to access the patient portal…using your patient number and DOB (see graphic below.)
We want to make communication easy and convenient with you regardless of your level of comfort with technology. We look forward to seeing you at your next appointment, and we are serious about giving you an excellent experience!
During the past year and a half, we have shown our patients, their family dentists and the community a number of ways we are truly uncommon. During the month of March, we will be delivering yet another uncommon feature for our patients…so unique that, to our knowledge, we are the only orthodontic practice anywhere that does anything like it!
If you are a patient of record with Uncommon Orthodontics, your family dentist will receive a communication from us that we call the “Hygiene Recall Letter.” This letter lists all patients we have in common with your dentist, along with their contact information and instructions. The goal is for us to partner with your dentist to be certain that you are current on your dental hygiene needs.
You may wonder why that is such a big deal, but your dentist will not wonder at all. Sometimes patients think they are “going to the dentist” when they are coming in for their orthodontic appointments and they may let their hygiene appointments “slide.” While we are really careful to hold a high standard for brushing excellence, we are not in the business of doing a dental exam at every appointment. You need the expertise of your dentist and hygienist to make certain that little problems do not become complex…and to be sure that when the braces come off, the teeth and gums will be in tiptop shape when you show off that new smile that you worked on so hard!
So, your dentist should be looking out for this letter. It will be mailed by post and email and in some cases, hand delivered. Your dentist, hygienist and your friends at Uncommon Orthodontics care about your smile and we are honored to have the opportunity to serve you!
We Want YOU!
It’s tax season, and Uncle Sam (sadly) wants YOU! “Nothing is sure except death and taxes,” huh? Seriously, we have an “uncommon” idea for you to consider “what to do” with this year’s tax refund.
Very much like using your insurance coverage to decrease your monthly payments, you could use your tax refund [and maybe insurance] to make your monthly payments even more affordable…and if you get started by April 30, 2016, you are assured of 2015 fees. Those of you who may have declined to start treatment last year for any reason can even use the “free records” offer that expired when you postponed your braces. That earns you an extra $378 savings! So, we can make your payments even more affordable than before.
Our policy is always ZERO down payment, ZERO interest, ZERO financing fees and ZERO credit check…that will not change. We never ask for a down payment, but using your tax refund to reduce your monthly payments (and even combining that with insurance payments) is a smart way to stretch your budget AND have the beautiful, healthy smile you want! Call us today: 417-625-1114 to schedule your appointment!
And, remember that your workplace may have a “flexible spending plan” that you can use too.
Did you know that braces are one of the biggest individual expenses you will provide for yourself or your child? It is natural to be concerned about how you will work that expense into the family budget when the time comes. Rest assured that we’ve “got that covered” for you!
Our financing policies are one of our most uncommon offers; in fact, our Clinical Director, Dr. Bill Pickard, was a pioneer in no down-payment financing when he started this policy over 42 years ago! At Uncommon Orthodontics, we always offer ZERO down-payment, ZERO interest, ZERO finance fees and ZERO credit check…you simply begin a monthly payment that continues at the same rate until the contract amount has been completed. In addition, we accept all major credit cards, all insurances, state-based insurance (Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas) and those patients with Care Credit cards.
There are also generous referral rewards you can earn by sending your friends who get their braces with us! You will simply love this!
A healthy and beautiful smile is a great confidence builder and can go a long way toward establishing a positive self-image for you or your child. Let us have the honor of being your orthodontic provider and offering you our uncommon financing. Call us for an appointment today!
At Uncommon Orthodontics, we are all about lowering your monthly payments…and one way we do that is to use your insurance benefits. Of course everyone takes insurance, but sometimes they only accept the ones that are favorable to them. We take them all.
Do you have dental insurance? If so, check to see if there are orthodontic benefits under your plan. Orthodontic coverage is very different from dental in that there is a “lifetime maximum benefit” at a “fixed percentage.” For example, you may have a $2000 orthodontic benefit that covers 50%...this would give you $1000 to help with your treatment. If you have two insurance policies (that is, one each from mom and dad) we can make them both work for you in a marvelous way. Flexible spending plans [through your place of employment] are another way for your benefits to help in lower your monthly payments with treatment contracts.
We accept all insurances, including state-based insurance for Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas. We are preferred providers of MetLife, Dental Delta, Blue Cross Blue Shied, and CIGNA Insurances. If your insurance is not on our list, you can be confident that we will do everything possible to become a provider. We will contact your insurance provider at your first visit to check about what benefits are available for you, and we will calculate that into your payment plan. Together we can use those benefits to lower your monthly payments and, along with our uncommon financing, make braces even more affordable to you! Give us a call right away!
Your braces are off and your smile is beautiful…congratulations on a job well done! Now it’s time to keep that smile in perfect order by wearing your retainers. Of course, your original retainers are warranted against defect, but that does not include loss, damage, abuse or theft. In order to help you be successful maintaining your smile, we offer an uncommon answer to those common retainer issues. That answer is our Retainer Replacement Program (RRP.)
For a one-time fee of $189, your retainers can be repaired or replaced up to three times…with a small co-payment that will not change once you become a member. That allows you to replace a retainer quickly for a nominal fee and not interrupt the retention of your smile!
